I am going to college this fall and looking for a laptop to last a few years of college. One laptop i did find was the samsung NP-R780-JS01US but it is a samsung and i am not sure how they are in laptops. If it isn’t a great choice then what else should i look at. I personally only like laptops, not macbooks or netbooks. Also i have to get it from bestbuy per request of parents. They are paying for part of it. My budget is 900$ without taxes. I will be using it for stuff in college so excel will be big because i am majoring in business/accounting. My second semester of freshman year i will be adding on the major of engineering or something with mathematics so i might need to run a few programs for that, Other than that i play music, go on youtube, the normal stuff a high school/college student would do. Also the bigger the screen the better.

Regretfully I have no “numbers” on Samsung but I can tell you that the top laptops for reliability are Asus and Toshiba so it might be best to look into them
Best thing to do if you really are set on this laptop is to run a couple of searches on “samsung laptop reviews” or ratings and see what others think. Or you can check out Consumer Reports, but the online version is going to charge you if you want the data.
A 17″ screen seems awfully big to carry around. But, the specs on that laptop definitely look solid. i5 processor and GT330M graphics are very good. But don’t expect battery life over 2.5 hours even during casual use. The user reviews on Best Buy’s website seem to be very positive.

ok so heres the thing…
none of them as i figured by buying the alienware m15x.
you can buy a different computer thats not as well known for much cheaper but has the same specs as them two laptops you posted.
its just the make makes it dearer..
aka id go for a dell xps much better 
or a toshiba or hp they play games great

Well laptops really suck with gaming because they overheat and you really have to spend 2000 dollars to get a nice one that will play your games on max settings. The samsung is better but it will not play cod mw2 at highest settings. You should just get a desktop, you can get a hell of alot better performance with a 800 dollar desktop then you could with a 800 dollar laptop.
The Alienare was has a slower CPU then the samsung but it has a better graphics card. Only slightly better. But the cpu in the samsung kills the alienware laptop
